Unexpaix In Mourning truly took me by surprise. I have to say they are exactly the kind of band I hope to find. They push the envelope by creating songs with unique structures. They are capable of and know when to use clean vocals and melodic breaks. Most of all they are heavy and every riff is dripping with originality. The album also has a conceptual element to it which always pleases me in music. Favorite track: Fire And Ocean.

Morgan Ywain Evans it is evident this band puts a lot of thought and passion into each release. hopefully they will continue to be torch carriers for their genre into the future. Favorite track: The Lighthouse Keeper.
Richard Smithston

Richard Smithston A great Mellow Death Band. Certainly filling the void left by Opeth's change in direction. Now with Katatonia's ex drummer Dan Liljekvist. A lightly progressive offering.

The last track ends with some interesting spacey electronics. It leaves me wondering what they would sound like if they were to pursue that a little more...

A slightly muddy mix but recommended. Favorite track: Below Rise To The Above.

Marcel Lucas This album hasn't left my player for weeks! And that doesn't happen to a lot of albums these days. It's melodic, sad, distant, heavy but not all that brutal... I just keep listening... All musicians are more than capable, but play serving the songs. Favorite track: Fire And Ocean.

about

Hailed by many as the heir to Opeth's melodeath throne, IN MOURNING was formed in the Swedish woods in the year 2000. Since then the band has evolved over the years, striving to refine its sound to what it is today. Musically, the group blends a broad spectrum of influences into a foundation of melodic death metal. Thrusting from doomy metal-riffs, blasting drumbeats and deep growling vocals to calm breezes of clean flowing melodies and harmonies.

The new album "Afterglow" takes off where the previous one, "The Weight Of Oceans" (2012), ends. It's more complex, yet more alive, with key IN MOURNING elements - and a few new twists and turns.

The cover artwork was made by Kristian Wåhlin (Bathory, Tiamat, King Diamond). "Afterglow" is the first album featuring new drummer, Daniel Liljekvist (ex-Katatonia).

Recorded between November 2015 and March 2016 in Nordin Music Studios (drums) and Libra Studios (guitar, bass and vocals). Mixing and mastering duties have been handeled by Jonas Martinsson in Necrosavant Studio.
