patient_ot Although I would say "Walpurgisnacht" is Varathron's classic album, this is probably their most complete and accomplished work to date. There aren't many recent black metal albums that I really enjoy, but this is excellent.

M.Dark What a fantastic album. The first song is misleading at first because it is the slower track in the lp but once you're past that you're in for one of the best produced BM albums I've heard, is so enjoyable and engaging that you can hear every instrument clearly play its part without interfering with the others. There is absolutely nothing sterile here, only well, really well executed metal that you cannot miss (oh and the vocals of putrid hate are so great). BUY THIS AT ONCE! Favorite track: Death Chant.
Dean Vincent

Dean Vincent Full of ritualistic vocals and marauding melodies to entice you further. It's a thoroughly enjoyable slab of intense darkness that should have been on my end of year list for 2014. Better late than never! Favorite track: Leprocious Lord.

N. Lord Perhaps the only metal band I know of that's gotten better over the course of two decades (Almost three, good lord!). Compare this to "His Majesty at the Swamp" and you'd be hard pressed to say this is the same band! Perhaps the most impressive feat is that while they've managed to make much more complex and rich songs than in their first few releases, they've still managed to keep the aggression and spirit that most metal bands shed with age. Favorite track: Realm of Obscure.

The Greek based band consists of Stefan Necroabyssious (vocals), Achilleas C (guitars), Sotiris (guitars), Stratos (bass) as well as Haris (drums) and has been active on the stage since 1989. Band's early albums are considered to be the cornerstones of the Hellenic black metal scene, alongside the releases of Necromantia and Rotting Christ, with whom the group shared members as well as similar fascination towards early style. VARATHRON's trademark are mid-paced riffs that have a classic, old-school feel strengthened by a progressive view, as well as epic atmosphere that only few can match. Band's discography includes black metal gems of the 90's such as "His Majesty at the Swamp"(1993) and "Walpurgisnacht" (1995).

"Untrodden Corridors of Hades" was recorded, mixed and engineered by Kostas Kalampokas at Infinite Loop Music Studio (www.facebook.com/InfiniteLoopStudio), Greece and mastered by Tom Kvålsvoll at Strype Audio (1349, Arcturus, Darkthrone, Emperor, Code, Ulver) in Norway.

The cover has been created by Mark Riddick (Arsis, Absu, Mystifier, Nun Slaughter, The Black Dahlia Murder).
