Near Death Revelations is the first Blaze of Perdition album where the band truly owned its sound, shedding its Watain influences and creating a truly remarkable black metal album that is deceptively complex in execution. This is equally adept at tearing your face off with high-tempo tremolo assaults as it is in making you feel sorrow through sections of more contemplative and melancholic melodies, and often multiple times in the same song. What makes this incredibly emotive approach a lot more complex than it initially sounds is the layering of melodies and the excellent use of vocals in what is effectively another instrument. Blaze of Perdition is Polish black metal royalty but it sounds nothing like Mgla, Kriegsmaschine, Batushka, or Furia. Buy this album, and every other of the band’s albums, or choose to live your life as incomplete - the choice is yours.
